Reconnecting

The speed of this world does not sit well with me. I hate AI with a passion and it’s just so scary to see no one wanting to keep it in check. Billionaires make my skin crawl. Technology is no longer a tool… it’s a distraction. People need to be bored. To create. To explore. To imagine. To try (and fail). To be.

I’ve taken a lot of time lately untangling myself from big tech and finding myself again. I’ve started degoogling and have ordered a dumbphone. (I’m old enough to remember when a phone was just a phone and I miss it!) Am I there yet? No. But I’m confident I will be. One day.

The goal is to reconnect with myself.

Along this vein, I’ve been considering doing away with my Instagram account. It’s definitely changed for the worse over the years (pretty much since Facebook got a hold of it). I’m also super uncomfortable with the privacy infringements and the inability to opt out of Generative AI training.

The current solution is to show up here (still internet, I know) and utilize my newsletter more. I’m under no illusions that anyone will take the time to seek me out here but I need to make changes to protect my sanity.

So, that said, this is where I’ll be. I’ll be painting and reading and living quietly. I can’t wait.
